Simplify and scale new property onboarding

New property onboarding can be complex. It requires the juggling of many things like aligning homeowner expectations, creating onboarding standards, and ensuring its success.

The art to onboarding can be mastered but requires a few things from your team first. We will dive into how to leverage tech, onboarding strategies and more on how to shift toward a mindset of scale while keeping your brand standards in place and creating a positive experience for owners.

1. Develop an onboarding strategy
With your team, discover and understand homeowner expectations and create onboarding standards to align with these. It is key to communicate your expertise throughout the process. Develop a checklist of actions that will set you up for success (no matter how big or small - create a task for it). Consider partnerships with local and tech vendors to offload work from your team when it makes sense.

2. Setting expectations for new owners
Setting clear initial expectations with new owners is crucial. Ask reflective questions to ensure compatibility in the sales process. Establish your team’s non negotiables like safety, cleanliness, and brand standards. For example, homeowners should not determine their own rates or use their own cleaners. Requiring them to use linens you provide, leverage property profiles and listings and remaining the subject matter expert throughout will reduce miscommunication and issues.

3. Timing and dependencies
Onboarding a new property can take 3 to 21 days. Factors like weather, furniture staging, initial property condition, renovation needs, and previous obligations can extend this timeframe. Consider using technology that can handle tasks simultaneously, to move the process along without missing steps.

Simplifying new property onboarding involves strategic planning, clear communication, and tech. By creating a strong onboarding strategy, setting clear rules for new owners, and understanding timing, your team can efficiently scale and provide a seamless onboarding experience.
